Free Range Egg and Poultry Australia (FREPA)

Many of Australia’s free range chicken meat farms are accredited by FREPA, a not-for-profit, member-based organisation established in 1993, and focused on independent accreditation of animal welfare, traceability and production standards of free range eggs and poultry. To be accredited, members must demonstrate an understanding of land care, environmental, biosecurity and animal welfare issues, and animal diseases.

This Standard sets out a number of food safety requirements for the primary production and processing of poultry, and poultry carcasses and poultry meat for human consumption. At the primary production stage, businesses that produce poultry must implement measures to control the food safety hazards and must be able to trace their products. Businesses that process poultry must control their food safety hazards and must be able to trace their products.
