|ACGC at this year’s AGM welcomed James Mifsud to the role of President of the ACGC. James replaces Victorian Grower Mike Shaw who has diligently served the organisation for the last 4 years. The ACGC on behalf of growers all around the country would like to thank Mike for the passion and commitment with which he has pursued industry issues during his tenure as President.
James represents the NSW Growers as Director of ACGC but also as President of the NSW Farmers Chicken Meat Branch of which he has been a member for 14 years. He has represented turkey growers as a grower delegate to Inghams for 13 years.
In recent times his passion for innovation and best management practice has been noted with James being named the 2014 NSW Farmer of the Year runner up and 2015 Nuffield Scholar. James is currently travelling the world with his Nuffield Scholarship to investigate best management practice poultry production systems with an emphasis on bird welfare. We look forward to seeing the benefits of James’ research here in the Australian industry.
With James vacating the Vice Presidents position, it has been filled by QCGA President and Queensland Director, Jodie Redcliffe. At home she and her husband Wayne own Chanticlear Farming a 250,000 bird operation an hour north of Brisbane on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. In 2013 Jodie was awarded the Nuffield Agricultural Scholarship with which she chose to look into ways growers can positively influence the perceptions surrounding poultry meat farming.
